CLIx at the Telangana- Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition (25.11.2018-27.11.2018)

On a warm Sunday morning, the much anticipated state-level science fair at the Telangana State Residential School (Girls), Ensanpally, Siddipet,  began amid overwhelming fanfare. The implementation team of Connected Learning Initiative (CLIx), Telangana, jumped at this opportunity to exhibit its modules.

Over three days, more than 2,500 students and 500 teachers visited the CLIx exhibit and engaged with applications such as Run Kitty Run, Element Hunter and Police-quad. Teachers felt that compared to other ICT initiatives, the CLIx modules were more interactive. Headmasters, students, teachers (of public and private schools) and other visitors to our exhibit asked us to include their schools in the project as they were eager to implement CLIx.

The theme for Telangana State science Fair (2018) was ‘Scientific Solutions for Challenges in Life’, which covered the subthemes Agriculture and Organic Farming, Health and Cleanliness, Resource Management, Waste Management, and Transport and Communication. The inaugural address was by Director, State Council of Education, Research and Training (SCERT), B. Seshu Kumari. She conveyed the importance of science vis-a-vis other subjects, especially liberal arts and the humanities.

A teacher visiting the exhibit said, ‘I have knowledge of digital content, and we have attended some digital related trainings. This programme is more student oriented compared to other digital classes.’ A group of exuberant students from Telangana Minorities Residential Girls’ School (Khasba, Nirmal District) were asking when and how they could get access to these modules, which they believed would be beneficial for them.

The state science fair had various exhibits based on the given themes. We at CLIx extend our best wishes to the young scientists whose exhibits were selected for the 46th Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for Children 2019 at New Delhi.
