CLIx Launch
The Connected Learning Initiative (CLIx), a joint venture of TATA Trusts, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), reached a milestone on 27 January 2016 when it was officially launched via an event at the Taj Vivanta, Mumbai.
The event organised by the TATA Trusts brought together dignitaries and representatives of various organisation partners collaborating on this project including MIT, TISS, Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), Eklavya, University of Mizoram, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Centre for Education, Research and Practice (CERP), and the State Governments of Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana. Prof. MS Vijay Kumar (Associate Dean and Senior Strategic Advisor for Digital Learning, MIT), Prof. Padma Sarangapani (Chair, Centre for Education Innovation and Action Research, TISS) and Amrita Patwardhan (Head, Education Portfolio, Tata Trusts) unfolded the aim and scope of CLIx. The goal of this project is to enable intervention at scale and to use scale as an input in the design process of curriculum development and research and implementation in core subject areas of Math, Science and English.
The film that marked the launch – Introduction to CLIx, captured the shared vision of key members and the founding principles of the project. The event also included demonstrative videos of the specific offerings of CLIx Math, Science and English and I2C or Introduction to CLIx.
A panel discussion followed the screenings with the members, Mr. Ratan Tata (Chairman, Tata Trusts), Prof. Parasuraman (Director, TISS), Prof. Rafael Reif (President, MIT), Mr. S Ramadorai (Chairman, National Skill Development Agency), Subrat Sahoo (Education Secretary, Chhattisgarh), Upender Reddy (Department of School Education, Telangana), Ms. Tulika Saini (Deputy Director, RMSA, Rajasthan) and Mr. Joseph Lalhimpuia (Parliament Secretary, Mizoram). The panel discussion was moderated by reporter, Sonia Singh and telecast on NDTV Dialogues.
