Curriculum Update – October 2015

Curriculum development work began in February 2015 by first scoping out the macro aspects, such as the class (grade) to begin the intervention and the topics or themes to select for each subject. In August, the curriculum team attended a design workshop at MIT to understand methods of integrating technology into classroom practice in meaningful ways. Touching on many of the pedagogical features mentioned here, designing educational games was a key feature of the design workshop.

The team is now in the process of designing and developing the first offering or module in each subject domain. Alongside, the draft values framework has been developed. In parallel, the team is contributing to the CLIx research work, including the baseline tools.

The development process involves creating prototypes and field testing the pedagogical features at the various sites of implementation. All domain teams in India and MIT meet regularly to share best practices and work in collaboration to meet the larger CLIx objectives and goals. Bi-monthly meetings to share curriculum development process and progress with the entire CLIx team including implementation and research have begun.
