The Center for Education, Innovation and Action Research (CEIAR), an Independent Centre at TISS Mumbai, established in 2015 invites applications to strengthen its administration, technology, communication, production and field implementation team at Mumbai, Bangalore and Telangana. The Centre incubates and promotes innovations that address the needs of India education to raise quality and standards and relevant to the developing world, and the innovative use of new technologies and media.  The Centre is actively engaged in research, development, teaching, field action/action research and advocacy, and offers opportunities for national and international collaboration, innovation and excellence in teaching and research.  The Centre’s flagship action research programme, the Connected Learning Initiative (CLIx), is focused on the development of and use of technology and new media in school curriculum and teacher professional development.  CLIx was awarded the UNESCO-King Hamad Prize for the Use of ICTs in Education (2017 edition)- https://clix.tiss.edu/. Programmes and initiatives leading to excellence in teacher education are currently under development including research institutional strengthening, inclusion, and in-service and pre-service teacher education.  The Integrated approach to Technology in Education (ITE) is a pedagogic framework for integrating technology in teaching and learning. The Tata Trusts’ ITE program is being implemented across seven states through 18 partners and direct project units. The geographical areas of the program are mainly resource poor, such as in tribal inhabited areas in Eastern and North Eastern States or in urban slums in Maharashtra and West Bengal. The program runs in supplementary learning centres, Madrassahs and public schools. ITE’s objectives include bridging the digital divide; fostering digital citizenship, creating an active interest for learning; fostering Higher Order Thinking Skills and significantly improving pedagogies and learning processes. Technology is embedded in the teachers’ lesson plans and pedagogy. In the year 2016, the resource support of ITE has been assigned to CEIAR at TISS. The resource support involves capacity building, programmatic improvement and research support. It will also include managing ITE certificate program for ITE partners at TISS. The initial appointments will be on contract basis till 31st March 2019, which may be extended for one more year based on performance, review and need of the project.

The ITE Research and relationship manager position is Mumbai based and will be on contract basis till 31st August 2019.

THE TEACHER PAGES INNOVATOR FELLOWSHIP 2017-2018

A CEQUE-TISS Joint Initiative, TPIF is an 8-month fellowship program for Language and Maths teachers of grades 3 to 8, that gives innovative teachers a chance to learn new skills, receive recognition for their work and scale their impact through professionally filmed videos of their classroom teaching.

Internship at CLIx- 2018

CLIx is looking to get interns on board for a period of two to three month April- June 2017 at TISS, Mumbai to assist CLIx team in the following areas:

1. Curriculum Development (Mathematics and English, Mumbai & Science, Bhopal)

2. Field Action Research (for implementing States-Telangana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram)

3. Field technologist

4. Media production

Skills/knowledge required:

The expertise of working with spreadsheets; Basic software development cycle; Good command over English, Hindi and Telugu; Orientation towards research

Qualification:

For 1- BSc/ MSc/ BA/ MA (1st and 2ndyear); Domain expertise, experience and interest in school education

For 2- MA in Education, Social work, Social Entrepreneurs (1st and 2ndyear)

For 3 and 4- B Tech/BCA /MCA/MSc/ Media studies (2nd year engineering student or final year graduation student)

Based on relevant experience, the intern will be provided with a stipend. In case of field work, the project will support travel and stay for the candidates. Limited hostel accommodation during TISS vacation may be provided in case it is available.

Call for Field Action Research Fellows

Job descriptions for Field Action Research Fellows(FARF): Two Positions

Key responsibilities:

Work closely with partner Implementation lead and TISS Implementation leads to support the process of implementation; Manage the daily programs activities at the state level. This will include planning, field testing and implementation of curricular offerings in an ongoing manner; Coordinating, hand-holding the state implementation team, troubleshooting issues etc.; Work closely with the local ecosystem (educational institutes, volunteers, resource groups) and facilitate their involvement in the programs; Documenting the field interventions, communications and reporting; Involved in on-going research activities and support the local team in all the research activities; Monitoring of the implementation and summarize and report the progress of implementation; Coordinate/ organizing orientation/programs; Perform any other task assigned by the Implementation leads and core CLIx team.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be post-graduates in Education/ Development Studies/Social Work or equivalent from recognized institutions.

Experience:

Field experience–working with schools and teachers; Experience in working with field teams will be an advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

Knowledge of field issues in education and familiarity with technology use in education; Excellent written and verbal skills in English Fluency in Hindi and other Indian languages; Self-motivation and ability to multi-task and deal with stressful situations; Ability to undertake extensive travel and for extended periods of time; Ability to support field teams and partners

Remuneration:

The monthly remuneration for the position is between Rs. 30,000-40,000 (based on experience and qualification)

Vinod Raina Fellowship for Science Education and Research

Clix is pleased to invite application for Vinod Raina fellowship for science education and research.

The fellows will become a part of science curriculum development team at Eklavya, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. As part of their job they will be expected to participate in and contribute to the development of modules for topics in science at the high school using a combination of print and digital media, and hands-on experimentation and supported by teacher professional development (TPD). Clix adopts a research based design approach to the curriculum development. The process will include time in schools for observation of classroom practice and testing content and digital tools. It also requires various research activities that may lead to research papers and reports on various issues of education. The posts are academic and may involve designing and conducting of workshops and blended TPD.

Part time position available in the Communications Team- CLIx Project

This would entail:

  • working on internal & external communication tasks -maintaining documentation- reports, audio-video files, photographs and sourcing these from the various teams
  • able to work on various social media  platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
  •  liaising with vendors for printing of communication materials
  • assisting in the management of the CLIx website
  • coordinating workshops and internal meetings
  • other related tasks.

Qualifications:  A graduate in any discipline with a Post Graduate Diploma in Communications (preferred). Graduates with suitable work experience will also be considered.
